Junior News Update
Whilst the arrival of Summer made a pleasant change for the spectators at Saturday's KLAA Junior match on Tottenhill Lake, the bright, still conditions made the day a real challange for the anglers.
Early indications looked promising, with fish moving everywhere, but come the 11 o'clock start the picture had changed completely, and it was soon obvious that this was to be a hard won match.
The junior pegs produced only small silver fish throughout the heat of the day despite several methods being adopted. The eventual winner was Adrian Bliss with a creditable weight on the day of 4lb 8oz. This included a match winning Tench of over 4lb, caught on two maggots float fished close in to the reeds. Adrian claimed the first prize of a multi tip feeder rod, second was James Taylor with 1lb 10oz and third was Carl Bliss with 1lb 5oz
The inters was won by Gary 'the G man' Smith, using the long pole to great effect, pushed into the shade of the overhanging trees on the far bank off the point. Gary's mixed bag consisted mainly of carp, but included bream and tench and weighed in at a creditable 14lb 3oz.
Well done to everyone who took part, especially those fishing their first match.
The next match will be a Junior Pairs Open to be fished at Shepherds Port Lakes on Saturday the 17th. of August. In order to keep it on a competitive footing it will be run on a handicap basis with the combined age of the two anglers not exceeding 33, i.e. an 18 year old and a 15 year old can fish (18 + 15 = 33). Further information will be published in the local press and posted in local tackle shop windows, or you can call Steve on 01553 765055 for details.
